I have a fun fantasy about my life. A romanticized version of reality, if you will.
Picture me, sitting in a candle-lit room, a variety of books spread out around me with all my favorite lines highlighted in various shades of purple, pink, and green. A warm cup of chai at my lips as I meditate on the magic, mayhem, exploration and romantic entanglements destined for my WIP characters. My laptop screen is open and ready for me to start tapping away at the keys that will weave my creative inspiration together into a story that you can’t wait to read.
And you... You, of course are a seeker, just like me. Someone who craves depth, magic, romance and the kind of stories that stay with you long after you’ve read the last line. We are a match made in my own fictionalized version of heaven.
What I’m Currently Querying
It’s time to move on… This is the very sudden, very unwelcome sense of “inner-knowing” that hits Gwendolyn Moore one day at while she’s at work.
And when that inner knowing leads her to unexpected life changes, Gwen is forced to revisit the past in ways she’s been avoiding all her life.
Braced for her new reality, Gwen comes face-to-face with long forgotten dreams, painful family history, the threads of lost love, and the potential for new love to grow.
But there’s a lot bubbling up underneath the surface in Gwen’s heart and soul. When she finds herself confronted by the mistakes of her past, Gwen must face her own intense emotions, and the truths that she’s ignored for far too long; about herself, about family, about love, about the choices she’s made, and about the previously forgotten dream that has haunted her for years.
I love books that take me on a journey, books that imbue me with subtle knowledge, books that reflect my own experiences and feelings, books that break my heart, books that make me go ‘squeeeeee’, and books that change my perspective.
A few of my favorites:
The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
The Alchemist by Paulo Cuelho
In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid
